    Armored vehicles in Basel

    Armored car hire in Basel

A city on three borders, with an airport in France, global pharmaceutical headquarters and the art world's busiest week each June.

    • From one full day with driver
    • Self-drive from two days
    • Rates on request

Armored car hire in Basel with Nero Line provides a certified armored saloon or SUV, at a protection level from VR4 to VR10, with a trained security driver or for your own licensed driver. Basel sits where Switzerland, France and Germany meet: its airport, EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg, lies on French soil, and many routes cross a border within minutes. The busiest week is Art Basel in June, when collectors, gallerists and their advisers fill the city. Rates are on request in Swiss francs.

    Art Basel week

Each June, Art Basel brings collectors, museum directors, dealers and advisers to Messe Basel for the most concentrated week in the art market's calendar. Private dinners, gallery visits and openings run late into the evening across the city.

If you plan to attend, request as soon as your dates are confirmed. Our Art Basel page has the dates and explains how we plan transfers to the fair.

Outside the fair, the city's museums and private collections draw collectors throughout the year, and their visits are planned in the same way.

    Industry and the Rhine

Basel is home to global pharmaceutical and chemical companies, whose campuses and towers line the Rhine. Outside the art season, the vehicle serves executive visits, board meetings and investor days at these sites.

The old town rises above the river, with narrow streets and limited access for cars. The driver plans set-down points that keep walks short and waiting positions that do not block the trams.

A day at the large pharmaceutical campuses can be split between two or three sites in the city and across the border, which is why the driver plans each crossing in advance rather than on the day.

    Three countries in one programme

EuroAirport sits in France, with a road connection to the Swiss sector. Alsace and its wine villages lie to the west, and the Black Forest and Freiburg to the north in Germany. A day's programme can easily touch all three countries.

The vehicle can cross borders with you on a planned route. Zurich is about an hour away by motorway, and Frankfurt is reachable for a longer programme.

    Frequently asked questions

    Protection levels

    Protection levels in plain words

Civilian armored vehicles are commonly rated on the VR scale. The higher the number, the heavier the threat the body and glazing are tested against, and the heavier the vehicle becomes.

    VR4

    Handguns, up to .44 Magnum.

Discreet protection for city travel. The lightest class, closest to a standard car in weight and handling.

    VR6 to VR7

Rifles. VR7 corresponds roughly to the former B6 rating.

Suited to executive and diplomatic travel where rifles are part of the risk assessment.

    VR9

Military rifles. Corresponds roughly to the former B7 rating.

High protection for elevated risk profiles. Heavy, with a licence requirement to match.

    VR10

The highest level certified for a civilian vehicle.

Available on request, subject to availability and longer lead times.

Not sure which level fits your trip? Choose "advise me" in the request form and we will recommend one.

    How it works

    How a request works

    1. 01

      Tell us the trip

Dates, cities or route, number of passengers and the protection level you have in mind. A rough plan is enough to start.

    2. 02

      Receive a written offer

We confirm the vehicle class, protection level, driver arrangement and positioning, and send a written offer. Rates are on request and stated in the offer.

    3. 03

      Confirm and verify

On confirmation we complete identity checks, and for self-drive the licence check and the security deposit. A confidentiality agreement can be signed first.

    4. 04

      Handover where you are

The vehicle is positioned to your airport, hotel, residence or venue at the agreed time, with the driver briefed on your programme.
