    Armored vehicles in St. Moritz

Armored car hire in St. Moritz

High in the Engadin, reached by mountain passes, busiest in the depth of winter. A destination where the vehicle and the driver have to be ready for snow.

    • From one full day with driver
    • Self-drive from two days
    • Rates on request

Armored car hire in St. Moritz with Nero Line provides a certified armored SUV or saloon, at a protection level from VR4 to VR10, with a trained security driver prepared for mountain roads, or for your own licensed driver. St. Moritz sits in the Upper Engadin, reached from Zurich over mountain passes or from Italy through the Bregaglia valley, and Engadin Airport in Samedan receives private aircraft. The winter season is the busiest, and early booking is recommended. Rates are on request in Swiss francs.

Winter, roads and a heavy vehicle

In winter, every route into St. Moritz crosses a mountain pass or climbs a long valley. An armored vehicle is heavier than its standard version, so braking on packed snow and descending long gradients require a driver who knows the vehicle and the road.

Our drivers check pass conditions before departure and plan the timing around them. Vehicles for the Engadin in winter are equipped for snow, and an armored SUV is usually the right choice for chalet driveways and steep village streets.

    Arriving in Samedan

Engadin Airport in Samedan is one of the highest airports in Europe and is used mainly by private aircraft. It is a few minutes from St. Moritz, so the vehicle can be waiting when you step off the aircraft and you are at your chalet shortly after.

Arrivals at Zurich or Malpensa are covered too, with a longer mountain drive. The driver follows your flight and adjusts the timing if conditions on the passes change.

    The Engadin and beyond

Celerina, Pontresina and the lakes of the Upper Engadin are all within a short drive, and Davos is within reach for a meeting or a day on another mountain.

To the south, the Maloja Pass drops into Italy towards Chiavenna and Lake Como. The vehicle can cross with you on a planned route, which makes a combined Engadin and Lake Como programme possible in one booking.

Summer in the Engadin is quieter, with lakes, hiking and long stays in chalets, and the passes are open in good conditions.

    Protection levels

    Protection levels in plain words

Civilian armored vehicles are commonly rated on the VR scale. The higher the number, the heavier the threat the body and glazing are tested against, and the heavier the vehicle becomes.

    VR4

    Handguns, up to .44 Magnum.

Discreet protection for city travel. The lightest class, closest to a standard car in weight and handling.

    VR6 to VR7

Rifles. VR7 corresponds roughly to the former B6 rating.

Suited to executive and diplomatic travel where rifles are part of the risk assessment.

    VR9

Military rifles. Corresponds roughly to the former B7 rating.

High protection for elevated risk profiles. Heavy, with a licence requirement to match.

    VR10

The highest level certified for a civilian vehicle.

Available on request, subject to availability and longer lead times.

On confirmation we complete identity checks, and for self-drive the licence check and the security deposit. A confidentiality agreement can be signed first.

    4. 04

      Handover where you are

The vehicle is positioned to your airport, hotel, residence or venue at the agreed time, with the driver briefed on your programme.
