    Armored vehicles in Davos

    Armored car hire in Davos

A mountain town that once a year hosts much of the world's political and business leadership. Planning here starts months ahead.

    • From one full day with driver
    • Self-drive from two days
    • Rates on request

Armored car hire in Davos with Nero Line provides a certified armored saloon or SUV, with a trained security driver prepared for mountain and winter driving, at a protection level from VR4 to VR10. Davos is best known for the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting each January, when vehicle access in the town is regulated and early booking is essential. Outside the Forum, Davos and Klosters are winter and summer resorts reached by mountain road from Zurich. Rates are on request in Swiss francs.

    Forum week

During the World Economic Forum, Davos changes completely. The town fills with delegations, security perimeters close streets around the Congress Centre and the hotels, and vehicle access is regulated by the authorities. Plan an armored vehicle well before the week begins.

If you need an armored vehicle for the Forum, request as early as you can and tell us where you stay and which days you need the vehicle. Our event page for the World Economic Forum explains how we plan the week.

    Getting there

Davos has no airport. From Zurich the drive runs via Landquart and the Prättigau valley, on a road that climbs steadily and can be slow in snow or in heavy Forum traffic. Some arrive by private aircraft in Samedan in the Engadin or at St. Gallen-Altenrhein and continue by road.

A heavy armored vehicle on a winter mountain road needs a driver who knows how it brakes on long descents and how it behaves on packed snow. Our drivers plan the route against weather and road reports on the day.

Davos and Klosters out of Forum week

For the rest of the year, Davos and neighbouring Klosters are mountain resorts with private chalets, ski areas and summer hiking. For a season here, the vehicle can cover arrivals, daily routines and trips to Zurich or St. Moritz.

Requests outside the Forum are easier to fulfil, but notice still matters, because the vehicle has to be positioned in the mountains before you arrive.

    Protection levels

    Protection levels in plain words

Civilian armored vehicles are commonly rated on the VR scale. The higher the number, the heavier the threat the body and glazing are tested against, and the heavier the vehicle becomes.

    VR4

    Handguns, up to .44 Magnum.

Discreet protection for city travel. The lightest class, closest to a standard car in weight and handling.

    VR6 to VR7

Rifles. VR7 corresponds roughly to the former B6 rating.

Suited to executive and diplomatic travel where rifles are part of the risk assessment.

    VR9

Military rifles. Corresponds roughly to the former B7 rating.

High protection for elevated risk profiles. Heavy, with a licence requirement to match.

    VR10

The highest level certified for a civilian vehicle.

Available on request, subject to availability and longer lead times.

Not sure which level fits your trip? Choose "advise me" in the request form and we will recommend one.

    How it works

    How a request works

    1. 01

      Tell us the trip

Dates, cities or route, number of passengers and the protection level you have in mind. A rough plan is enough to start.

    2. 02

      Receive a written offer

We confirm the vehicle class, protection level, driver arrangement and positioning, and send a written offer. Rates are on request and stated in the offer.

    3. 03

      Confirm and verify

On confirmation we complete identity checks, and for self-drive the licence check and the security deposit. A confidentiality agreement can be signed first.

    4. 04

      Handover where you are

The vehicle is positioned to your airport, hotel, residence or venue at the agreed time, with the driver briefed on your programme.
