    Armored vehicles in Lugano

    Armored vehicles in Lugano

Switzerland's Italian-speaking south. Private banks, villas above the lake and a border with Italy a few minutes away.

Armored vehicles in Lugano from Nero Line provide a certified armored saloon or SUV, at a protection level from VR4 to VR10, with a trained security driver or for your own licensed driver, across Ticino and into northern Italy. Lugano is a financial centre in its own right, and its nearest large airport is Milan Malpensa rather than a Swiss one, so arrivals cross the border on the way in. Lake Como and Milan are close, and the Gotthard route connects to Zurich. Rates are on request in Swiss francs.

    Arriving through Milan

Lugano's own airport has limited operations, so most visitors land at Milan Malpensa and drive north, crossing into Switzerland on the way. For an armored vehicle this means the border is part of the very first transfer, and the planning starts there.

The driver meets you at Malpensa, follows your flight and drives you to Lugano, or straight to a villa on the lake if that is where you stay.

Lugano's lakefront is compact and busy in summer, and set-down points near the banks and hotels are planned to keep the walk short and the vehicle close.

    Banking and the lake

Lugano is the third financial centre in Switzerland, with private banks and wealth managers concentrated near the lakefront. A stay can combine meetings in town with residences in the hills above the lake, in places such as Castagnola or across the water in Campione.

Hillside roads here are narrow and steep, and an armored SUV is often the better choice for private residences. In town, a saloon attracts less attention.

If you move between Lugano and Milan for work, one vehicle can cover both, crossing the border twice a day on a planned route rather than changing cars at the frontier.

Lake Como, Milan and the road north

Lake Como is a short drive across the border, and its villas and hotels are an easy second stop. Milan, an hour or so away, fits into the same programme for business or fashion week.

To the north, the Gotthard motorway and road tunnel connect Ticino with Lucerne and Zurich. St. Moritz and the Engadin can be reached by mountain road through Italy, which makes for a scenic but demanding drive in winter.

    Frequently asked questions

    Protection levels

    Protection levels in plain words

Civilian armored vehicles are commonly rated on the VR scale. The higher the number, the heavier the threat the body and glazing are tested against, and the heavier the vehicle becomes.

    VR4

    Handguns, up to .44 Magnum.

Discreet protection for city travel. The lightest class, closest to a standard car in weight and handling.

    VR6 to VR7

Rifles. VR7 corresponds roughly to the former B6 rating.

Suited to executive and diplomatic travel where rifles are part of the risk assessment.

    VR9

Military rifles. Corresponds roughly to the former B7 rating.

High protection for elevated risk profiles. Heavy, with a licence requirement to match.

    VR10

The highest level certified for a civilian vehicle.

Available on request, subject to availability and longer lead times.

    How it works

    How a request works

    1. 01

      Tell us the trip

Dates, cities or route, number of passengers and the protection level you have in mind. A rough plan is enough to start.

    2. 02

      Receive a written offer

We confirm the vehicle class, protection level, driver arrangement and positioning, and send a written offer. Rates are on request and stated in the offer.

    3. 03

      Confirm and verify

On confirmation we complete identity checks, and for self-drive the licence check and the security deposit. A confidentiality agreement can be signed first.

    4. 04

      Handover where you are

The vehicle is positioned to your airport, hotel, residence or venue at the agreed time, with the driver briefed on your programme.
