    Armored vehicles in Vienna

    Armored vehicles in Vienna

One of the great diplomatic cities: United Nations offices, international organisations, embassies and conferences in the palaces of the old capital.

    • From one full day with driver
    • Self-drive from two days
    • Rates on request

Armored vehicles in Vienna from Nero Line are available on request: a certified armored saloon or SUV, at a protection level from VR4 to VR10, with a trained security driver or for your own licensed driver. Vienna hosts United Nations offices at the Vienna International Centre, several international organisations and a large diplomatic community, and its conference calendar fills the hotels on the Ringstrasse many times a year. Arrivals come through Vienna International Airport, and Bratislava is close across the Slovak border. Rates are on request.

    A diplomatic city

The Vienna International Centre, on the Danube, houses United Nations offices and agencies, and other international organisations have their seats in the city. Conferences and negotiations bring delegations throughout the year.

On those days, the roads around the venues carry delegation cars and security arrangements. Our drivers plan routes, set-down points and waiting positions accordingly.

Hotels for these organisations are in the first district or near the Danube, and a delegation programme can repeat the same journey several times a day. The driver varies the timing and the approach where the schedule allows.

    The Ring and the Hofburg

The Ringstrasse circles the old town with ministries, the parliament, hotels and the opera along its length. The Hofburg, the former imperial palace, is also a conference venue, and during the ball season in winter it hosts evenings that draw guests from across Europe.

Inside the Ring, streets are narrow and many are pedestrian. The driver uses the closest practical set-down points and waits nearby.

Opera and concert evenings follow a similar pattern, with guests arriving at the same time and leaving together at the end. The driver plans the pick-up so you do not wait at the entrance, and agrees the meeting point before the evening begins. Embassy receptions in the diplomatic districts are planned the same way.

Bratislava, the Wachau and the Alps

Bratislava lies just across the Slovak border, so meetings in both capitals fit into the same booking. The Wachau valley and its vineyards lie to the west along the Danube.

Austrian motorways require a vignette, which is handled as part of the booking. Salzburg, Munich and the Alps are within a day's drive for a longer programme.

    Questions

    Frequently asked questions

    Protection levels

    Protection levels in plain words

Civilian armored vehicles are commonly rated on the VR scale. The higher the number, the heavier the threat the body and glazing are tested against, and the heavier the vehicle becomes.

    VR4

    Handguns, up to .44 Magnum.

Discreet protection for city travel. The lightest class, closest to a standard car in weight and handling.

    VR6 to VR7

Rifles. VR7 corresponds roughly to the former B6 rating.

Suited to executive and diplomatic travel where rifles are part of the risk assessment.

    VR9

Military rifles. Corresponds roughly to the former B7 rating.

High protection for elevated risk profiles. Heavy, with a licence requirement to match.

    VR10

The highest level certified for a civilian vehicle.

Available on request, subject to availability and longer lead times.

Not sure which level fits your trip? Choose "advise me" in the request form and we will recommend one.

    How it works

    How a request works

    1. 01

      Tell us the trip

Dates, cities or route, number of passengers and the protection level you have in mind. A rough plan is enough to start.

    2. 02

      Receive a written offer

We confirm the vehicle class, protection level, driver arrangement and positioning, and send a written offer. Rates are on request and stated in the offer.

    3. 03

      Confirm and verify

On confirmation we complete identity checks, and for self-drive the licence check and the security deposit. A confidentiality agreement can be signed first.

    4. 04

      Handover where you are

The vehicle is positioned to your airport, hotel, residence or venue at the agreed time, with the driver briefed on your programme.
