What the Munich Security Conference is
The Munich Security Conference is a leading forum for international security policy. Each February, heads of state and government, foreign and defence ministers, military leaders, parliamentarians, executives and experts gather in Munich for three days of debate.
Around the main programme, bilateral meetings, briefings and dinners take place in hotels across the city. Many participants travel with their own security arrangements, and the city centre operates under heightened security for the weekend.
