    Armored vehicles in Monaco

    Armored car hire in Monaco

Two square kilometres, dense streets, a harbour full of yachts and two of the busiest event weeks in Europe. Every metre is planned here.

    • From one full day with driver
    • Self-drive from two days
    • Rates on request

Armored car hire in Monaco with Nero Line is available on request: a certified armored saloon or SUV, at a protection level from VR4 to VR10, with a trained security driver or for your own licensed driver. Monaco has no airport, so most arrivals land at Nice Côte d'Azur Airport and continue by road, or by helicopter to the Monaco heliport. The principality is small and dense, with limited stopping places, and during the Grand Prix and the Monaco Yacht Show its streets and harbour change completely. Rates are on request.

    A small, dense principality

Monaco packs residences, banks, hotels and a harbour into a narrow strip between the mountains and the sea. Roads twist between levels, tunnels run under the rock, and places where a car may stop are few. Arriving at the right door matters more than the distance driven.

Our drivers plan set-down points at hotels, residences and offices in advance, and agree waiting positions that keep the vehicle close without blocking the street. Many residences have their own underground access, which changes the approach again.

Residents can book for specific periods rather than all year: a family celebration, a high-profile event, a week when a principal is in town.

    Grand Prix and Yacht Show

For the Grand Prix in June, the circuit runs through the streets of Monte-Carlo and around the harbour, and roads close for practice, qualifying and the race. The Monaco Yacht Show in September fills Port Hercule with superyachts and the quays with visitors.

Both weeks bring traffic restrictions and full hotels. If you plan to attend either, request early and see our event pages for the dates and how we plan around the closures.

    France and Italy all around

Monaco is surrounded by France, and Beausoleil and Cap d'Ail are part of daily life for many residents. Nice and its airport are to the west, Menton and the Italian border to the east.

The vehicle crosses these borders as part of any ordinary day. For trips further into France or Italy, tell us the route so the planning covers the whole programme.

    Frequently asked questions

    Protection levels

    Protection levels in plain words

Civilian armored vehicles are commonly rated on the VR scale. The higher the number, the heavier the threat the body and glazing are tested against, and the heavier the vehicle becomes.

    VR4

    Handguns, up to .44 Magnum.

Discreet protection for city travel. The lightest class, closest to a standard car in weight and handling.

    VR6 to VR7

Rifles. VR7 corresponds roughly to the former B6 rating.

Suited to executive and diplomatic travel where rifles are part of the risk assessment.

    VR9

Military rifles. Corresponds roughly to the former B7 rating.

High protection for elevated risk profiles. Heavy, with a licence requirement to match.

    VR10

The highest level certified for a civilian vehicle.

Available on request, subject to availability and longer lead times.

Not sure which level fits your trip? Choose "advise me" in the request form and we will recommend one.

    How it works

    How a request works

    1. 01

      Tell us the trip

Dates, cities or route, number of passengers and the protection level you have in mind. A rough plan is enough to start.

    2. 02

      Receive a written offer

We confirm the vehicle class, protection level, driver arrangement and positioning, and send a written offer. Rates are on request and stated in the offer.

    3. 03

      Confirm and verify

On confirmation we complete identity checks, and for self-drive the licence check and the security deposit. A confidentiality agreement can be signed first.

    4. 04

      Handover where you are

The vehicle is positioned to your airport, hotel, residence or venue at the agreed time, with the driver briefed on your programme.
