    Armored vehicles in London

    Armored car hire in London

Mayfair and Knightsbridge, the City and Canary Wharf, five airports and traffic on the left. Available on request, planned with more notice than our core markets.

    • From one full day with driver
    • Self-drive from two days
    • Rates on request

Armored car hire in London with Nero Line is available on request: a certified armored saloon or SUV, at a protection level from VR4 to VR10, with a trained security driver or for your own licensed driver. London has more airports than most capitals, with Farnborough and London City serving business aviation and Heathrow for long-haul arrivals. Traffic drives on the left, central London has a congestion charge and an ultra low emission zone, and both are handled as part of the booking. Rates are on request.

    Five airports to choose from

Heathrow, west of the city, receives most long-haul flights. London City sits in the Docklands, a short drive from Canary Wharf and the City. Farnborough and Biggin Hill are dedicated to business aviation, southwest and southeast of London.

The driver positions the vehicle at the airport you use and plans the route into London around traffic, which on the main approaches is heavy most of the day.

Mayfair, the City and Canary Wharf

Family offices, private banks and hedge funds cluster in Mayfair and St James's, with hotels and residences in Knightsbridge and Belgravia nearby. The City of London and Canary Wharf hold the large banks, insurers and law firms, and London's courts and arbitration centres bring their own share of high-profile visits.

Central London has a congestion charge and an ultra low emission zone. Both are handled as part of the booking, and set-down points in streets with strict parking rules are planned in advance.

High-profile court cases and arbitration hearings in London often require the same arrival at the same building every morning for days or weeks. These are the moments when a heavier vehicle and a driver who varies the approach make the most difference.

    Driving on the left

Traffic in the United Kingdom drives on the left. If your own driver takes the vehicle, tell us whether they are used to this. Most high-protection vehicles exceed 3,500 kg maximum authorised mass, so your driver needs category C1 rather than a standard category B licence.

Trips from the continent across the Channel need extra planning and notice. Tell us your full route if your programme combines London with Paris, Brussels or Amsterdam.

    Frequently asked questions

    Protection levels

    Protection levels in plain words

Civilian armored vehicles are commonly rated on the VR scale. The higher the number, the heavier the threat the body and glazing are tested against, and the heavier the vehicle becomes.

    VR4

    Handguns, up to .44 Magnum.

Discreet protection for city travel. The lightest class, closest to a standard car in weight and handling.

    VR6 to VR7

Rifles. VR7 corresponds roughly to the former B6 rating.

Suited to executive and diplomatic travel where rifles are part of the risk assessment.

    VR9

Military rifles. Corresponds roughly to the former B7 rating.

High protection for elevated risk profiles. Heavy, with a licence requirement to match.

    VR10

The highest level certified for a civilian vehicle.

Available on request, subject to availability and longer lead times.

Not sure which level fits your trip? Choose "advise me" in the request form and we will recommend one.

    How it works

    How a request works

    1. 01

      Tell us the trip

Dates, cities or route, number of passengers and the protection level you have in mind. A rough plan is enough to start.

    2. 02

      Receive a written offer

We confirm the vehicle class, protection level, driver arrangement and positioning, and send a written offer. Rates are on request and stated in the offer.

    3. 03

      Confirm and verify

On confirmation we complete identity checks, and for self-drive the licence check and the security deposit. A confidentiality agreement can be signed first.

    4. 04

      Handover where you are

The vehicle is positioned to your airport, hotel, residence or venue at the agreed time, with the driver briefed on your programme.
