    Armored vehicles in Belgium

    Armored vehicle hire in Belgium

The political centre of Europe in Brussels, the diamond and port city of Antwerp, and neighbours on every side.

    • From one full day with driver
    • Self-drive from two days
    • Rates on request

Armored vehicle hire in Belgium with Nero Line is available on request: certified armored saloons and SUVs at protection levels from VR4 to VR10, with a trained security driver or for your own licensed driver. Brussels hosts the main institutions of the European Union and NATO's headquarters, which makes Belgium one of the busiest places in Europe for official and diplomatic travel. Antwerp adds its port and diamond trade. France, the Netherlands, Germany and Luxembourg are all close, so a programme can easily cross a border. Rates are on request.

    Brussels, capital of the institutions

The European Commission, the Council and the European Parliament are grouped in the European Quarter of Brussels, and NATO's headquarters stands near the airport. Summits and ministerial meetings close whole districts and bring delegations from every member state.

Our Brussels page covers the airport, the institutions and the practical rules in detail. Movements around the institutions depend on accreditation and on perimeters announced shortly before each event.

    Antwerp, Ghent and Bruges

Antwerp is a short drive north of Brussels, with one of Europe's largest ports and a diamond district that has traded for centuries. Business visits here combine the port, the diamond quarter and the city's head offices.

Ghent and Bruges to the west draw private visits, with historic centres where traffic is restricted and set-down points are planned in advance.

Antwerp's diamond quarter sits beside the central station, where streets are narrow and security is visible, and visits there are planned with short walks in mind and the vehicle waiting close by.

    Neighbours, licences and languages

Belgium borders France, the Netherlands, Germany and Luxembourg, and a route can cross one of them in a single day. Paris, Amsterdam and Luxembourg are each within a few hours by road.

A driver who takes the vehicle in Belgium needs category C1 for most high-protection vehicles, since they exceed 3,500 kg maximum authorised mass and a category B licence stops there. Drivers who speak French, Dutch, German or English can be requested, subject to availability.

Luxembourg, home to European institutions and a financial centre of its own, is a short drive from Brussels and can be part of the same programme. Programmes can also move between Belgium and the Netherlands, for example Brussels to The Hague.

    Frequently asked questions

    Protection levels

    Protection levels in plain words

Civilian armored vehicles are commonly rated on the VR scale. The higher the number, the heavier the threat the body and glazing are tested against, and the heavier the vehicle becomes.

    VR4

    Handguns, up to .44 Magnum.

Discreet protection for city travel. The lightest class, closest to a standard car in weight and handling.

    VR6 to VR7

Rifles. VR7 corresponds roughly to the former B6 rating.

Suited to executive and diplomatic travel where rifles are part of the risk assessment.

    VR9

Military rifles. Corresponds roughly to the former B7 rating.

High protection for elevated risk profiles. Heavy, with a licence requirement to match.

    VR10

The highest level certified for a civilian vehicle.

Available on request, subject to availability and longer lead times.

    How it works

    How a request works

    1. 01

      Tell us the trip

Dates, cities or route, number of passengers and the protection level you have in mind. A rough plan is enough to start.

    2. 02

      Receive a written offer

We confirm the vehicle class, protection level, driver arrangement and positioning, and send a written offer. Rates are on request and stated in the offer.

    3. 03

      Confirm and verify

On confirmation we complete identity checks, and for self-drive the licence check and the security deposit. A confidentiality agreement can be signed first.

    4. 04

      Handover where you are

The vehicle is positioned to your airport, hotel, residence or venue at the agreed time, with the driver briefed on your programme.
