Chauffeur Day Rates in Spain: What a Full Day Costs and How It Is Billed

Sandra McCarthyWriter & Editor at Nero LineOctober 20, 202610 min read

A chauffeur in Spain is EUR 90 per hour, booked by the day with a minimum of 8 hours, so EUR 720 for the minimum day, VAT included, with the vehicle priced separately. As of October 2026, plan two lines rather than one: the chauffeur from EUR 720 per day for eight hours, and the vehicle from EUR 300 per day, VAT included. Count the hours your day actually runs, then add the two lines for that length.

What does a chauffeur day cost in Spain?

The chauffeur rate in Spain is EUR 90 per hour, booked by the day with a minimum of 8 hours, which is EUR 720 for the minimum day, VAT included, with the vehicle priced separately. The published Spain day rate puts the chauffeur from EUR 720 per day for eight hours and vehicles from EUR 300 per day, VAT included, sold in day packages of 8, 10, 12, 16, 20 or 24 hours. Add the two for the package your day needs and you have the floor of the quote.

The structure matters as much as the headline figure. The vehicle is priced separately from the chauffeur's hours. Changing the car therefore moves one line and leaves the other where it is, while a longer day moves the chauffeur line rather than the vehicle's day rate. Nero Line does not offer standalone point-to-point transfers.

Put down the earliest pickup and the latest finish you would genuinely accept, then read across to the package that covers both. The car is the second decision, and it sits on the other line. Anything that might arise on the day beyond the contracted hours belongs in the written offer as its own item, not in a verbal estimate.

    How are chauffeur hours billed?

The chauffeur is not included in the rental price: it is a separate service billed per hour with a daily minimum, chosen as an 8, 10, 12, 16, 20 or 24-hour service per day, and standalone point-to-point transfers are not offered. The vehicle keeps its own line on the same offer, at its own day rate with VAT included. Two lines, two units: hours for the driver, days for the car.

That difference decides how a quote should be read. A line expressed per hour with a daily minimum tracks the length of your day; a line expressed per day tracks the car you chose. When comparing quotes, check the hours contracted per day and the vehicle day rate as two separate figures rather than one bundled transfer price.

Keeping the lines apart is also what makes the day adjustable on paper. The car and the chauffeur appear separately on a written offer. A longer day in a modest car and a shorter day in a more expensive one can therefore be compared line by line before anything is agreed. If you want the surrounding terms first, our answers on rental terms and chauffeur booking set out the mechanics behind both lines.

What pushes the total above the minimum day?

As of October 2026, the price per extra kilometre depends on the car: EUR 3.50 for cars with a daily rate of less than EUR 1,000, and EUR 5 for cars with a daily rate higher than EUR 1,000 per day. Distance is priced against the car, then, rather than against the driver.

Which band applies follows from the car's daily rate. Check that rate first, then the band, then the distance you expect to cover, in that order.

The second lever is the package itself. The chauffeur hours are billed separately from the car, and a longer package than the minimum is the ordinary way a late finish is covered. A day that drifts past its planned end is a change to the hours contracted, not an adjustment to the vehicle line.

So count both before asking for a figure. Estimate the kilometres the day will cover, counting the return legs that are easy to forget; set the latest finish time you are willing to commit to; and ask for the chauffeur hours, the car and any extra-kilometre charge to be shown separately in your written offer. Those three inputs, the hours, the kilometres and the car, are what an offer actually prices.

What does a full chauffeur day look like?

A full chauffeur day often has a simple shape: pickup at the villa around noon, a long lunch at a beach club in the south of the island, a swim and a nap, then back to change before dinner, with the chauffeur waiting nearby or returning at the time you choose. Read that against the clock rather than against the itinerary. Take your own start time and your realistic finish time, then ask which package covers both. Add one item to your own checklist before you book: ask the operator to state in the written quote how any waiting time between your stops is counted.

Hours accumulate in the gaps as much as in the driving. A lunch that runs long, a change of clothes before dinner and a late return all sit inside the window you contract, which is why the finish time is the number to be honest about when the hours are set.

The shape also shows where the kilometres go: short hops between a villa, a beach club and a restaurant, with the car standing by in between. If the drive itself is the point of the day instead, our notes on the best driving roads in southern Spain for supercars give the stretches worth planning the hours around.

Two practical points for a day of this shape. Name the pickup address and every stop so the hours and the distance are quoted on the same assumption, and ask for the latest finish to be fixed in writing rather than leaving the end of the evening open.

Why is the chauffeur day contracted in advance?

Art. 182.1 ROTT provides that vehicles attached to chauffeur-driven vehicle hire authorisations may in no case circulate on public roads in search of clients, nor encourage picking up passengers who have not previously contracted the service by remaining parked for that purpose. The day is therefore agreed before it begins. The hours on the offer are a contracted figure, not a meter reading taken afterwards.

The licensing background explains the shape of the market. The granting of chauffeur-driven vehicle rental (VTC) authorisations had been limited by a 1/30 ratio to taxi licences, one licence for every 30 existing taxis, as set in article 48.3 of Ley 16/1987, de 30 de julio. Treat the booking as a reservation made in advance rather than something arranged on the morning of the day.

It also changes what a useful enquiry contains. A destination alone does not describe a contracted day; the schedule does, which is why the date, the start time and the number of hours are the details that turn an idea into a priced offer. Ask for those in writing, and request confirmation of how an extension would be handled if the schedule runs long. If you are still choosing the city, our luxury car hire pages for Spain show where the service operates.

Which car should you pair with the chauffeur?

The day rates below price the car only: a chauffeur is not included in the rental price and is added as the separate hourly line. As of October 2026, four cars among the current listings show what the vehicle side of a chauffeur day looks like.

A professional chauffeur can be added to a car on request, most often on vans, executive sedans and large SUVs. Current day rates for each model sit on the luxury car hire service pages for Spain. If none of the four suits the party, the luxury car collection and the cars grouped by category are the places to compare further models. Our rundown of supercars you can rent in Spain helps when the day is built around the car rather than the schedule.

The listings give passenger seats, which is a different question from luggage. Before fixing the car, confirm luggage fit for the party and the hours per day you actually need.

    Chauffeur day questions answered

Is the chauffeur included in the car's day rate?

No. The chauffeur is not included in the rental price and is billed as a separate service per hour, with a minimum of 8 hours per day. In Spain that rate is EUR 90 per hour, VAT included, with the vehicle priced separately. Read any offer as two lines, one for the hours and one for the car.

How many chauffeur hours can I book per day?

The chauffeur is booked in day packages of 8, 10, 12, 16, 20 or 24 hours, from EUR 720 per day for eight hours, VAT included. The package you choose sets the length of the day, and it is agreed before the day starts rather than extended informally on the spot.

Can I book a chauffeur for a single point-to-point trip?

No. Standalone point-to-point transfers are not offered, and the chauffeur is sold per hour with a minimum of 8 hours per day. Vehicles under chauffeur-driven hire authorisations may in no case circulate in search of clients, nor remain parked to pick up passengers who have not previously contracted the service. A single airport run therefore sits inside a contracted day, priced on the hours.

Do the chauffeur figures include VAT?

Yes. The published Spain day rate is quoted VAT included, for the chauffeur hours and for the vehicle alike. Ask for each line to be itemised in the written offer, including anything charged beyond the booked hours or the included kilometres.
